A Quick Chat with Alexa Prisco
Official “Glam Fairy” star Alexa Prisco is gearing up for season two of her reality show that centers on her high-energy world of being a makeup extraordinaire and business owner.
The new season premiere is Sunday and ahead of that, I had the chance to chat with Alexa to get an mini inside scoop of what to expect this season. She reveals a BIG surprise (if you’re a true fan, you should already know).
Alexa, you’re managing a company, planning a wedding, and shooting a reality show. I’m sure I left something off the list. How in the world do you handle it all?
Well I am also eight months pregnant, teaching a Glam Academy, and trying to maintain some level of integrity as a wife, so it’s pretty crazy! But it makes each day fun and exciting. I have a schedule that brings me something new and different every day, so I don’t mind it at all! I’m sure if you asked any mom/mom-to-be/entrepreneur, they would say that balance is the key. You have to have the ability to not let one thing consume you too much because other things will then struggle. Perfect example…yesterday I taught the Glam Academy for 10 hours, came home and dealt with the reality of being eight months pregnant and wasn’t feeling too great, and now it’s the next morning and I am mapping out the design of the nursery.
Eight months pregnant? Congrats! You expect a lot out of your ‘fairies’ and it seems as though you don’t mind cracking the whip. Do you think you’re a little too hard or just doing your job?
No one will love your company as much as you do and I feel I am relatively relaxed compared to most bosses. I just expect to get my money’s worth out of these people. And by not getting too close with the employees you can keep the business’s need as the priority.
I have a close guy friend that reminds me a lot of Jon. How do you keep business and friendship separate through it all?
Well I think this season you will see our friendship tested! It’s very difficult. You want what is best for both business and your friendship, however, mixing the two is a recipe for disaster.
I had an opportunity to check out a sneak peak of the show. You obviously struggle with how Jon handles himself on the job. Without giving it away, does he get better? Do you help him get to where he needs to be as a friend?
Well I don’t know how much I can give away either, but put it this way — we are still friends to this day! You’ll have to watch the show to see what happens.
Any major surprises this season?
Well I did reveal that I am pregnant a couple weeks ago, so that is a huge surprise. And balancing pregnancy and being a business owner is extremely difficult.
So what’s the deal with you and Olivia?
Olivia and I have our ups and downs and you will see that this season in “Glam Fairy”! She’s a little bit younger, so I think she still has a lot to get out of her system before she can really become a lucrative business owner.
Season two premieres on October 7th on the Style Network (9-10 PM ET).
