Getting Into The Game

Autumn is in full swing and I love it. ABC’s political thriller “Scandal” is back, my pumpkin spice latte is extra hot, and I can finally break out my favorite pair of boots. Even with all that, what I’m most excited about is the return of football!  A lot of ladies groan when they hear the word football because it means their men spend less time with them and more time with their flat screens. It doesn’t have to be that way. Whether you’re unfamiliar with the sport or follow team stats like Vogue’s twitter feed, this is the perfect time to get into the game and spend some quality time with your guy. However, for the newbies, there are a few rules to keep in mind to make the experience a positive one.

  1. Do a trial run. Watch an old football game and ask him to explain the rules. Asking lots of questions during a game can be distracting, borderline irritating. Learning the rules beforehand makes it easier to enjoy the new season alongside him.
  2. Don’t mention how hot the players are. You wouldn’t want your man mooning over the models during the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, so try to return the favor. In other words, shut it!
  3. Put serious conversations on ice until after the game. While we’re watching “Scandal,” we’re totally in a zone. When the game is on, so are they. Want his full attention? Talk to him beforehand or wait until after the game.

Bonus points for rooting for his team! If not, there’s nothing wrong with a little friendly competition!  Good luck.
